WTC: Sharks possibly closing in on a deal for a third or fourth line forward
According to Dave Pollak of WTC, the Sharks injury situation may force Doug Wilson to complete a deal earlier than expected. But no, it's not going solve the hole on defense. Apparently, the Sharks' General Manager is working on a move for a third or fourth line player with experience to alleviate some of the strain on the Worcester shuttle. The player is supposedly playing in the NHL currently. We have no idea who this player may be, but recent rumors have linked San Jose to Andrew Brunette ($2.33MM) and Jarko Ruutu ($1.3MM), both of which could be possibilities. With Clowe, Mitchell Ferriero and McCarthy out with injury, and Nichol possibly awaiting suspension, the move may come sooner rather than later. Finally, signing Cheechoo is a possibility that has been mentioned by Pollak. However, because he was tipped that the player is currently playing in the NHL, that one seems more like a long shot.
