San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture, who led all rookies in scoring with 14 points (10 goals, four assists), has been named the NHL Rookie of the Month for December.
Couture, who also was named the Sharks' MVP for December, led the club in goals and ranked second in points. He began the month with a five-game point streak from Dec. 2-9, highlighted by a pair of goals in a 4-0 victory at Ottawa, the city where he starred in junior hockey with the Ottawa 67s of the OHL. He tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-2 win at Detroit Dec. 6 and scored in overtime for his fifth game-winning goal of the season in a 4-3 win at Dallas Dec. 16.
