Playing their first game of the their three-in-four-road trip, the San Jose Sharks will look to avenge their Oct. 15 home loss to the St. Louis Blues. Antti Niemi will get the start in net for the Sharks while Brian Elliott will get the start for the Blues.
According to David Pollak's twitter {@PollakOnSharks}, the Sharks' line combos have gotten stranger since Thursday night's game against the Dallas Stars:

After Barkley got his 6th TD early in the 4th, it was pretty obvious that they were like, “fuck this” and didn’t really try. I mean, they started putting out all the backups and even had Barkley make a pass to his cousin, who’s a walk-on who never played through his four years at USC until that pass.

the players read the gameday and were confused because there was no prediction so they don’t know what to do.

I don’t think a trade will happen. The players we have need to get it through their heads that they need to play 60 minutes of hard hitting, smart passing, intelligent hockey.

Sure
But could last year’s team be considered “resilient”? Because the first half of last season was amazingly ridiculous.
I’m not suggesting that DW should just go out and make a trade for the sake of “shaking things up”. At the same time, I’m not suggesting that he shouldn’t make a trade.
But I’m not sure if “resilient” is the right word, that’s all. I’m sure there’s some reason that this is happening.. But it’s impossible to put it in words.

But such a statement would seem to go against his MO.
The thing about his moves is that he’s patient. The flurry of trades with Minnesota happened because of groundwork he had been laying for almost a year if memory serves.

I think it’s consistency that has us down. We can play great one night, then look flat another. Teams like Chicago, Detroit, Pitt, Minn all seem to have a night-to-night consistency. This team can do it, I know they can. Hoping this slump ends tomorrow!

Chicago consistently gives up a lot of goals. Lucky for them, they happen to score more quite often.

A few things
- Corey Crawford might not be for real
- They traded Brian Campbell for Rostislav Olez
- Brent Seabrook has been injured at various times
- Duncan Keith has been asked to play A LOT of minutes
- Niklas Hjalmmarson looks a lot less good without Cambpell
- The Campbell trade has forced Nick Leddy to play a lot more than he should
- John Scott still gets a place in their lineup

Is Keith a “great” defenseman? I’ve actually never really paid attention to his play.
I feel like the pairing of Seabrook and Keith is better than either on of them individually.

Keith is very smooth skating
He’s what Vlasic would be if Vlasic was the Vlasic from November for an entire season.
Seabrook is one of the better D-men in front of his own net.
He and Keith really do compliment each other well. As a pairing, they’re great. I think it’s no surprise the Hawks have struggled compared to the Cup season since they’ve been forced to split them.

Part of the reason we haven't won a cup in my view is because there is never continuity for this team.
You can’t just keep making trades when they aren’t playing well and assume it will improve. I think the trades DW made in the offseason were very good and I support them, but I also think that that there comes a point where you need continuity. Players having to worry that they will get traded is not the kind of motivation you want/need in order to play better.
