Sharks and Red Wings Second Round Schedule Released; Series Will Start On Friday

With the most exciting first round in recent memory complete, all eyes and ears now turn towards the second round matchups set to get underway. With Tampa Bay and Boston advancing in game seven over Pittsburgh and Montreal respectively, the second round features some notable matchups.

In the East, Philadelphia and Boston will square off for a second straight year. The Bruins will attempt to make amends for their stunning meltdown in last year's series that saw the Philadelphia Flyers become only the third team in NHL history to come back from a 3-0 series deficit. Washington and Tampa Bay kick off a Southeastern battle, featuring two teams who did fought for the Division title all season long.

In the West we have Vancouver and Nashville beginning on Thursday, two teams who should give each other some trouble. With Jordin Tootoo and Mike Fisher beginning to assert themselves as postseason leaders for Nashville, and Vancouver fresh off a game seven victory over their arch-nemesis Chicago that saw them exorcise some major demons, the stage is set for a hard-fought grind-em-out series. Can the Sedins overcome the shutdown duo of Shea Weber and Ryan Suter? Or will the Canucks superior scoring depth crack Pekka Rinne, the best goaltender left in the West?

As for San Jose and Detroit, we'll have you covered throughout the entirety of the series-- scroll down the page to see our coverage thus far.
