FTF Podcast: Sharks-Wings Series Preview with Jamie Baker

Photo

In the eleventh edition of the Fear The Fin podcast Jason Plank and Matt Taylor sit down with Jamie Baker, break down the upcoming series against Detroit, look at some key players on each team, and dabble in a mental exercise they like to call "Possible but not probable."

There's no better way to prepare yourself for the second round against Detroit. So turn up your speakers and give this gem a listen once, twice or thrice.

And we promise, there's nothing in here about Royal Weddings. If you need to escape, we're here for you.

Really enjoying what you guys got from Jamie.

His discussion of the line matchups was great.

Thanks for this

Great of Bakes to drop in. However, as I listen and recall how Matt was taking credit for your music choices, the first break has…BOLTON?!?

Well, at least it wasn’t John.

Bolotn was ALL PLANK.

Fun fact: Bob Dylan wrote that song. So if you’re dissing “Steel Bars” you’re dissing the greatest songwriter of all time.

I have nothing but love and respect

for ol’ Zimmer.

Bolton…when my hair was longer, I used to be compared. Still irks a bit. But he’s an artist, and I respect his work as well.

Coming from a guy who suggested we go to the Kenny G/Michael Boston concert because it had “something for both of us” you’re one to talk.

Office Bolton

I know it’s tongue-in-cheek (I think) having Bolton on the break but you should see me explain why Bolton is cranking out of my speakers into the rest of the office.

Great interview with Bakes!

Just finishing up the Podcast on iTunes right now, I’m going to the game tonight (WHOOOOOOOO! First playoff game I’ve ever been to!) and I’ll try and call from the game with sounds from the crowd.

Good podcast

Good job guys, Interview with Jamie was great. But Michael Bolton? that No talent ass clown?

Also, speaking of jerseys, the orange really brings a lot out and forces tha contrast of that pacific teal with the white piping as well, vs. the gray or silver of yesteryear. Teal Jerseys > Black armor > Away jerseys.

Of course, people rip me because 75% of my wardrobe is black tshirts. i guess it’s a rocker thing.

Judging from all the women I work with, my g/f is the only woman waiting for faceoff tonight and not giving 2 shits about the Royal wedding and all that douchebaggery.

Sharks in 6
Bruins in 7
Lighting in 7
’Nucks in 5

i really want the Preds to win that series… but after last night, I don’t think the Preds got the guns. And if the the TB team that was there later in the series that sealed the deal on the Pens shows up, Caps are in for one hell of a ride.

KEEP THE FAITH. GO SHARKS.

Do you guys think Ben Eager will make it back in the lineup? who do you think will be in McGinn’s spot on the 4th line?

Sharks 20 goal scorers vs. Wings 10 goal scorers

This is maybe not a great real-world analysis, but a 20 goal scorer scores roughly once every 4 games, a 10 goal scorer once every 8 games. In a 7 game series, wouldn’t that favor the team with more 20 goal scorers, just statistically?

I don’t think so. Just taking each player’s goals per game and multiplying by 7, the Wings would score about 3.5 G in the series more than San Jose.

Jamie Baker on KNBR

Just finished up and said that tonight is key. If the Sharks get game one, then the series really gets going, because the Wings will be desperate. Plus Sunday’s game is at noon, yuck! So tonight is a must win (as much as a game one can ever be). Last year we took both home games, one & two, we need to repeat that this year and we’ll be in good shape.

GO SHARKS!!!
