At this point in the series Detroit probably feels like Agent Nightingale from Alan Wake, reliving the nightmare of a story they read once before. The narrative unfolding just as it did on that manuscript, the horror spreading before their eyes as they attempt to crack the case. To find peace again. To reach redemption, oh that slow and painful road to redemption, where every path has already been desperately scoured for clues. Clues that hint at how to solve the unsolvable.

To solve the San Jose Sharks.

San Jose likely shares that sentiment as well. Just like Agent Nightingale before them the Sharks realize what horrors can be found on those pages filled with prophetic text. The stunning similarity to last years series' warns of a coming storm that swallows the city in darkness before sinking its rotted teeth into unprotected flesh. A Darkness that overtakes all living beings until daylight breaks over the rooftops, signaling that sanity is able to be found once again.

And no matter how Sarah Breaker and Barry Wheeler attempt to guide the protagonist in this story, heroic and selfless in their quest, the Darkness ultimately belongs to San Jose. It is a creation that manifests itself in the most direct way possible-- of the mind, of the soul, of the imagination. The only way to escape the coming storm is to head directly towards it because behind that Darkness lies the light. And once within the sweet embrace of that light, well, only then will they have the strength to continue on.

And when they come down that hill the sun will come pouring through the trees, walls crumbling in a geometric spiral towards the bottom of the lake. The lake of dreams, the lake of nightmares, the lake of faith.

The lake where sunken ships can rise from the bottom of the sea.

For they did not know, that beyond the lake they called home, lies a deeper, darker, ocean green, where waves are both wilder and more serene. To its ports I've been. To its ports I've been.

Prediction: Sharks win 4-2. Goals by Pavelski, Clowe, Demers, and Couture. Someone writes a comment about videogames around 12:33 AM and the thread has a distinctly nerdy vibe leading up to the game. Good times.
