Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment now Sharks Sports & Entertainment

The month of August is an extremely slow one when it comes to hockey news, especially when it comes to the San Jose Sharks.
However, the team's parent company did make a splash, re-branding in the form of both a name and image change.
Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment, the privately owned company which runs the San Jose Sharks Organization and all related business lines, has changed their name to Sharks Sports & Entertainment, effective immediately.
The move is a significant one, if only because it brings the Sharks franchise and recognizablebrand to the forefront of the organization. Now, the company which also runs the SAP Tennis Open, Sharks Ice in San Jose, Fremont and Oakland, and most events at HP Pavilion, will do so under the name of its well known NHL franchise.
SS&E also owns properties in Memphis, Tennesse and Worcester, Massachusetts, most notably the San Jose Sharks AHL affilliate, the Worcester Sharks.
The new logo for the company borrows heavily from the NHL team's own, further cementing the organization's link to their most profitable, established and recognizable brand. For fans of the team, the logo does indicate a few things about any future jersey designs. First, the logo is unlikely to change in the near future. Second, the orange is here to stay; despite some fan apprehension to the inclusion of the "macaroni and cheese-esque" tone into the Sharks' color scheme, SS&E uses it prominently in their new logo.
Although this story may not register for many Sharks fans, it's important to note the commitment of the organization to the Sharks franchise and the NHL in the area.

I really like the logo.
Has kind of a “nasty” edge. That’s one long fin though.
That's what she said.
How can it have been 24 hours without someone saying that in regards to the long fin?

if you understand how the color wheel works or how color schemes work, you’ll know that orange is the perfect compliment to teal! And besides, it’s just a small highlight that you don’t even notice on the players when they’re on the ice.

Love the small bit of orange.
But I hated it for the orange-outs at the Tank. Aside from the more obvious reason that we’re a TEAL team, it just doesn’t look good anyways.

I don’t know if I’d say prominently. It’s probably about as much orange as the original Sharks logo had.
That being said, I would probably agree with you. Although I wasn’t 100% sure that the orange would stick around for long considering all the Sharks marketing has a filter that turns the orange into a silvery grey. (If you want an example, just go to sharks.nhl.com)

complimentary colors
Consult a color wheel. Lookup the Sharks’ teal. Look across to the complimentary color. For the #26b0cc that I sample off a pic of Ryane Clowe in his teal home jersey, that yields a #cc4262 orange. It’s science.

EXACTLY
I’m actually a big supporter of the orange on the jersey. It looks good in it’s small proportion. However, I am not suppporting something liek the Flyer’s jerseys as our alt. jerseys…

I thought so too
it looks… sharper. IDK why they didn’t just straight up copy and paste, but oh well.
BEAT DAT BEAT
It looks like a big black tooth
not a fin
The '05-06, '06-07', and '07-'08 Sharks were not ever good enough to win the Cup. They were just good enough to lose in the 2nd round. That's not choking people!
The fin...
is kind of jarring. I guess it was supposed to be balanced by the nose of the shark sticking out on the right, but that fin is just… idunno. The fin doesn’t work.
Otherwise it’s awesome logo and it’s cool to see the commitment of SS&E to the Sharks as a franchise.

For clarification purposes
I love the orange. Just pointing out that most I have talked to do not.
But as of now, the orange is a member of the Sharks Organization.

I THINK TEAL IS THE ONLY TRUE COLOUR THAT IS A MEMBER OF THE SHARKS ORGANIZATION!

Orange is awesome
I love the Orange, really adds contrast to the teal. Hell, the only reason I wanted the Flyers to go to the cup in 2010 was so we would have the Sharks in teal and the flyers in orange- wicked contrasting colors, both really vivid. it would have been a great visual. OF course, that didn’t work out….
Love the new SSE Logo. SVSE changing their name is a huge commitment to the Sharks.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but is the bay area the first area in the USA where a hockey team has been hoisted as the premiere team for a market? Other than maybe Detroit? I know Giants and A’s are big too… but are the Sharks bigger? Remember, I’m an iff worlder here guys. Just trying to get the perspective of the locale.
In my eyes, the Sharks are much like the Clash- The only team that matters (The Clash said band… you see where i’m going with it…)

Depends if you’re talking about the San Jose/Santa Clara/Sunnyvale market, or the San Jose/San Francisco/Oakland market.
In the whole bay area, the Sharks are nowhere near as big as the others. In SJ, I’d still say the Giants, Niners or Raiders are a bit bigger, but its close.

Someone said orange represents San Jose.
…Uhh… How? I’ve lived here(-ish, Campbell, San Jose, and Santa Clara to be exact) my whole life and never—Oh.
Oh God I feel dumb now. Orange the color = Orange the fruit.
I’m not even going to delete this and pretend it didn’t happen. I’ll just own up and stop talking now, thanks.
