The first commercial for the Sharks 2011-2012 season is out, featuring Logan Couture as a pizza delivery boy. The commercial follows the same format as the previous two years, with a Sharks player performing poorly at a job until "But he's a great hockey player" follows the scene. The Sharks generally release around four commercials per year, each featuring a different player. Joe Thornton as a ventriloquist, which introduced Slappy to the world, is considered to be the best commercial in the run. Although these commercials were a huge hit when they were were first released and possessed some of the most creative marketing in the NHL, the theme is beginning to get a little stale as the years go along. We'll see what else they come up with throughout the year. Nonetheless, it is always nice to see these commercials being released as it signifies the beginning of a new season. The San Jose Sharks open the year at home against the Phoenix Coyotes on October 8th.
