Sharks can’t really get established in the offensive zone. The Hawks speed is a problem for these guys, as I worried it would be.
They’ve got to slow the game down, establish the cycle, and wear down Chicago. That means a better breakout, and Dan Boyle not forcing passes or trying to skate through 3 guys, including one of his own players.

pretty tough loss, but it comes at the end of a tough trip. I’m pretty happy with how the team is looking.. even though they got out-chanced that game, they still seem to be on the right direction.

I think we have a losing record in games that he scores.
Not that it is a stat that means anything but it’s interesting nonetheless.
It's a 4-5 record when McGinn scores.
And today’s game was the one that tipped that balance. It is a losing record, but that’s pretty close.
Considering the Sharks have a winning record by a large margin makes this stat even more eye-opening.
Some of the wins were in shoot-outs, too.
I’d chalk it up to McGinn chipping in when the top 6 aren’t scoring as much as needed.

Sharks as a TEAM are SLOW!
The Hawks & Sharks played lastnight, but the Hawks have more team speed, and sure can pass a lot better. The sharks need more speed and the D-men need to not let the Hawks take the zone with speed. Ohwell this game was a EYE OPENER, and proves that Doug Wilson needs to get more speed in the line-up, cuz Havlat isn’t going to provide much once he comes back. The Sharks can’t compete against the Hawks, PLUS Hawks were without Sharp too.

The Sharks can’t compete against the Hawks
They played 3 games against each other this season and only one ended in a regulation loss.

remember when we played you in San Jose? Best the Hawks had played at that point in the season and we still lost… I think Sharks/Hawks compete very bloody well!

But Niemi stole the first game. The Sharks haven’t been able to compete against the Hawks as a whole.

The ‘09-’10 Colorado Avalanche were also a very fast team but we know what happened in the playoffs…

Yes, but the Bruins actually played physically. The Sharks, on most nights, are not fast or physical, really one of the only teams in the league that is not one or the other.

Niemi actually had a higher sv% than Crawford this game.
This just shows how bad the Sharks were outshot though…
