Ryane Clowe Trade Rumors

Ive been hearing a lot rumors about Brian Burke trying to make a trade for Clowe. I really dont want to see clowe go unless its an overpay but Burke has a way of giving up a lot for a guy he wants? Its also rumored ottowa and Florida are highly interested in clowe too. There was also a rumor about Pk subban to San Jose. What do do guys think about it, BS or maybe a trade possibility?

very questionable to say the least…if there was a "power forward " on the team clowe is it..it would take something monstrous for burke to land clowe…now p.k subban for either demers or braun plus a low draft pick i could actually entertain

Two things.

1. We already have a massive thread for trade rumours.
2. If you’d bothered to read the other thread, this has already been discussed to death, and has been shot down by Sharks front office staff.

Precisely

I dislike the dirtiness in his game. That diving nonsense? It works in Canada. And the slewfoots are pathetic.

He may be a pretty good D-man (he plays for the Habs… so I have NO idea), but unless he plays the right way, I don’t want to see him on the Sharks. Not that it’d happen… but not even hypothetically.

So. Not sure where you’re getting “it works in Canada”.

I meant “Canadian teams”.

The Habs and Nucks, for example, seem to have a tendency to be better trained in certain Summer Olympics events.

It's pretty much just the habs and the Canucks though.

Hardly, “all Canadian teams”. Plus Pittsburgh does it too.

Do you not want Thornton on the team for concussing Perron? Because that was worse than anything that PK has ever done. What about earlier this season when Clowe punched Seabrook in the nose after the third period had ended? Should we kick him off the team for not playing the game the ‘right’ way?

by Briceratops on Jan 28, 2012 9:55 PM PST up reply actions

Neither Clowe nor Thornton are consistently dirty players though. I still don’t think Thornton intentionally went out of his way to lay a headshot on Perron.

I just dislike how Subban consistently plays this way. The slewfoots, the dives… they’re a consistent occurrence. Not a big fan of that… at all.

No one says you have to read anything to post comments. Better to risk repeating what someone else has said than to make a new fanpost, and then after first visiting the page, following visits have new posts in yellow, so you can easily scroll to replies.

This is especially true with a fanpost that is only like 3-4 sentences long, something specifically frowned upon by the moderators.

BS. I mean really!!! Patrick Marleau should go NOT Clowe! Clowe is one of the only players with real team spirit, play ethic, fear the fin mentality. Really, Clowe. How many fans do they want to lose?

ive always thought the same about marleau he lacks the heart to be a good player in the playogfs

and he ends up disappearing. I think DW should trade marleau and maybe a pick or so so prospect for rick nash. Most likely not though I don’t think DW will ever trade marleau hes to gay for him. Oh and DW shot down the clowe rumor said there’s no way clowe will be traded at the deadline. David Pollack also tweeted zero chance clowe gets traded at the deadline so yeah sorry guys I guess this was a piontless post

It's useless

Trying to explain to people how good (and important) Marleau is when their argument is “he has no heart” – because that’s something you can measure and things fans know!

I’d be thrilled if Marleau retires as a Shark.

Patrick Marleau

Is the kind of man who can rob your house and sleep with your wife without you ever noticing. Yes he is not a particularly flashy player but his playoff stats don’t lie. He is damn good. Fans always seem to think that Marleau just “vanishes” in the playoffs. I guess those 33 goals and 57 playoff points since the lockout just magically scored themselves.

In the 2010 playoffs when we got swept by Chicago he was the ONLY Shark making things competitive.

Also I don’t think DW is gay; and even if he were, that’s ok

its his perfomance I dont like its the lack physical play and heart

I mean he has the size and strength to be a good power forward but he rarely finishes checks and when he does there nothing to get excited about. And he lacks the heart to make impact on the fans during a game unless he scores a goal. I guess its a matter of opinion but think of marleau as soft player. Not saying I don’t want him on the team or that hes not a good player ( because he really is a great player) I’m saying that if we could trade him for a more physical forward that can score (hint hint rick Nash) I would

by Levi Matthews on Jan 31, 2012 7:40 AM PST reply actions

And he lacks the heart to make impact on the fans

Tell me, how do you measure heart?

His job isn’t to make an impact on you, it’s to make an impact on the game and he’s been one of the top two way wingers in the NHL for a while.

If you think he’s soft because he doesn’t finish his checks, what’s your opinion on Hossa, Gaborik, Kopitar, Franzen, Joe Thornton…Just because a guy doesn’t hit it doesn’t mean he’s soft.

so basicallly ...

you want him to be good at something he was never known for? and that is why he lacks “heart”? lol … and just how many of these big bruisers that you want him to be like, have Marleau’s break out speed? and wrist shot? I mean you realize we are already one of the slowest teams in the NHL, Marleau is one of our few Forwards with speed. There is also no reason for the Blue Jackets to deal Nash for Marleau that makes no sense, they are in a rebuild mode, what is a 32 year old Veteran in his prime going to do for them?

Hossa and Gaborik both play soft too and I hate both of them.

I’m not saying I want marleau to go be jody shelly but he could at least finish a check sometimes. He is amazingly fast ( especially for his size) and talented and a great goal I just wish he’d play a little more aggressively especially in the playoffs when it really plays a part in the game. I don’t know sometimes marleaus play just irretates me and if he ever is traded I hope its soon while his value is still high.

by Levi Matthews on Jan 31, 2012 7:53 PM PST reply actions

I can assure you

that scoring goals and being fast are both infinitely more valuable than finishing checks. Thats why people like Marleau, Thornton, Stamkos, St. Louis, Kane, etc. get paid $7+ mill and grinders make $1.5 mill or less.

If you just want to see people hit each other, boxing or UFC are pretty good sports for that. Marleau has a more finesse approach, which is very valuable.

We have people like Clowe, Murray, Winchester, Vandermeer, etc. to handle the body work. Let Marleau do what he does best

It's not just

Marleau though. The whole team, be it following the lead of the team leaders (yes Marleau included) or the overall team spirit/morale could use a huge shot of adrenaline at some point in almost every game or through long stretches including the playoffs for whatever reason. I’m starting to think the Sharks need a mean, loud ass coach like Babcock to slap some sense into the org instead of passive ones like Tmac or the boring ass Ron snoozer Wilson.
