Gameday Thread: Sharks @ Ducks

Stay connected for news and updates

Here's some Sharks news for today.

  • Kevin Kurz of Comcast Sports Net looks at the Sharks record against the league's bottom dwellers. It's good... if you don't count Anaheim. 'Cause then it isn't.
  • Rookie goaltender Tyson Sexsmith and defenseman Matt Irwin have been named to the 2012 AHL All Star Team. For comparison's sake, Tyson Sexsmith currently posts a gleaming 1.98 GAA and a .927 save percentage; In Al Stalock's best AHL season, he had a 2.63 GAA and a .908 save percentage. Just saying.
  • David Pollak of the Mercury News says he wouldn't be surprised if Tommy Wingels, who has caught fire in the AHL recently (21 points in 28 games after a terrible start), worked his way back to San Jose soon. However, number crunching shows that the Sharks currently sit at the NHL roster limit, and can't bring Wingels down without sending down someone else. Every player currenly on the roster would have to go through waivers.
  • Jason Blake is back tonight for the Ducks after Brent Burns accidentally cut him earlier in the year.
