Where's James Sheppard??

I know James Sheppard has been hurt but is he still? Ive really been wanting to see him and what he's got.He didn't have Much success with the wild but sometimes a change of scenery is what young players need to start blossoming into a good hockey player. This kid was a high first round pick.I don't have high hopes for this guy but you never know.... What do you guys think about him?

I’m genuinely interested in seeing how he’ll do in the NHL. After all, he is only 23… but the injury’s probably going to be a hindrance for his game.

Regardless, I see him as more than a meme.

Just found this.

So looks like Sheppard’s looking at an NHL return sometime next year. Or super late in the season this year. Either way, it’s good to hear that he’s able to skate now.

I have heard that he is somewhat of a Jarome Igilna-Evgeni Malkin-Eric Staal-Pavel Datsyuk-Jonathan Toews-Teemu Selanne hybrid. Can you confirm this?

His mustache looks kinda like Toews’ awful facial hair, but that’s as much as I can confirm.

I was hoping he'd

start playing in the AHL by the end of the year and get to know, play and travel with some of the younger players.

I'd say he plays in woostah next month.

He says he will play before March 1st, but I doubt SJ calls him up unless he plays well in the AHL and is 100% healthy

.

He said he wants to play in a competitive game by March 1st, whenver that game happens to be it’ll be in Worcester…but he’s only able to a 2 week (max) conditioning stint there unless the Sharks waive him.

He may get a NHL game or two in towards the end of the year but I don’t see him contributing much to SJ this year.

I believe Sheppard is on a two-way contract this year. He shouldn’t have to be waived to go down. But regardless he hasn’t played a game in two years, and he wasnt good last time he did play. He needs to be in the AHL until he can prove he can play in the NHL.

Waiver status

Has absolutely nothing to do w/ the contract – the two way contract simply means he makes one salary at the NHL level and less salary at the AHL level.

There are currently 2 players on the team that don’t have to clear waivers and that’s Wingels and Braun (for at least a few more games).

They can send him to the AHL for two weeks but if they want him to stay there he has to clear waivers.
