No surprise here with this announcement reported by Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area. Personally, I think he should have remained in Worcester. I realize that sending down and submitting Sheppard to waivers would've meant any team could have claimed him, but I don't think there would have been much, if any interest in claiming him off waivers around the league.
