Tuesday Links Roundup: Donald Fehr's plan to divide and conquer

  • There's little doubt that the NHLPA increasing CBA provisions for revenue sharing in their counter-proposal last week was at least in part a ploy to create a division among the owners along economic lines (relatively speaking, since we're talking exclusively about multimillionaires here). James O'Brien looks at a report from Aaron Portzline that claims as many as eight NHL owners, for that reason as well as others, would accept the PA's proposal as is. [Pro Hockey Talk]
  • If you're looking for some false hope regarding the CBA negotiations and possibility of an impending lockout, Tom Benjamin has a terrific piece about some reasons for optimism. [Canucks Corner]
  • As we tweeted yesterday, former Sharks great and current player agent Igor Larionov has told the Edmonton Journal that his client Sergei Samsonov, who took last year off and was last seen playing for Florida at the end of the 10-11 season, will be given a pro tryout by the Sharks in the event that CBA negotiations are resolved in time for a 2012 training camp. [Edmonton Journal]
  • If you missed it yesterday, check out beat writer extraordinaire David Pollak's comprehensive article on the Sharks' ownership with more details than we've ever been privy to about how they operate. [Mercury News]
  • The always excellent Puck Buddys have added a Sharks writer. Here's his introductory post. [Puck Buddys]
  • If you're looking for your Sharks hockey fix this October, you're probably going to have to turn to Worcester. Here's San Jose's AHL affiliate's regular season schedule for the 2012-13 campaign. [Worcester Sharks]
  • Paul Holmgren and the Flyers ink Scott Hartnell to a 6-year, $28.5 million contract extension that could provide something of an upper limit for Ryane Clowe's asking price next summer. [Broad Street Hockey]
  • This story struck me as bizarre on multiple levels but should financially struggling teams really be auctioning off their players' medical care to the highest bidder? [Backhand Shelf]
