Sharks vs. Ducks: The homestand begins

Thearon W. Henderson

A seven-game homestand that could make or break the Sharks' playoff hopes begins tonight against the Ducks.

If the San Jose Sharks plan on qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season (and, by all indications, that is something they would like to do), the most important stretch of the year begins tonight. San Jose's next seven games will be at the Tank, where they've compiled an 8-1-4 record. A rough estimation of the postseason cutoff pegs the Sharks as needing to go at least 9-7-1 over their final 17 games to make the dance. Getting over half the necessary points against beatable teams in the Ducks, Wild and Flames as well as clubs the Sharks have had recent success against in Detroit and Dallas would really make for some smooth sailing in April. It starts tonight against Anaheim. Go Sharks.
