I wish I could be more active here and maybe after this post I will. But just wanted to share my thoughts about the Sharks especially now that the Kings have just eliminated the Hawks for the West final.
That shouldv'e been us. Our team had immense talent. Enough talent and skill that we SHOULD'VE beat the kings one more game to eliminate them in the 1st round. Only reason we didnt is because I believe we just didn't have enough heart and will to overcome the push back the Kings had against us. It had nothing to do with them having more skill because I truly believe we still have the better team and it's just we didnt have the intangibles and enough leadership to overcome the Kings.
Because of that I really feel strongly about Thornton and possibly even Marleau that they really need to go. Heart and will has to start with our leaders. If they dont have it then chances are nobody else would. It frustrates me that we always go down in the worst possible ways imaginable and that we dont show any fight when the going gets tough. SIMPLY PUT I'm tired of it.
In comparison, look at our SF Giants. The past 2 championships weve had I can honestly tell you that we didnt have the best teams to win them all. How they won both those championships had NOTHING to do with pure skill and talent but more so heart, will and determination. For so many years we would come out with the better skilled team than the championship ones we've had with the likes of Bonds, kent, etc. in our team and yet we couldnt win a damn championship. The Kings team that just got to the Stanley cup reminds me of the Giants we have that won championships in that it isnt really the skill that pops out for them but he sheer determination and unwillingness to stop competing until the opponent just couldnt get up from it.
With that said, the Sharks Desperately need a change of scenery. People will argue and probably ask.. then who do you replace them with? I'm not going to argue with numbers and CORSI's and stuff because I know their numbers are good. But winning stanley cups is not just about the numbers and time and time again the Kings remind us of that and frankly I'm done with it. Simply put, I would replace them with players you know would do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING to win it. Ones you know who would refuse to go down and come out swinging because Marleau and Thornton doesnt exude that personality. Dont get me wrong... I love both of them and I really wished that they can hoist the cup as Sharks but its obvious with this epic collapse, which just needed 1 MORE GAME to beat the kings, showed that skill and talent wasnt what we lacked but more the killer instinct, leadership and will that you need to win in the playoffs and it has to start with your leaders. Unfortunately, both of them dont have it.
