Watch Sharks vs. Jets prospects game at Young Stars tournament

Bruce Bennett

Gabryel Boudreau is one of several Sharks prospects set to take the ice this afternoon against their Winnipeg counterparts.

After last night's impressive effort but ultimate 3-2 loss to the Canucks, Sharks prospects will face future Winnipeg Jets in their second matchup of the 2013 Young Stars Tournament in Penticton, British Columbia this afternoon. It's probably too early in the season to unleash a terrible West Side Story joke so I'll leave it at that. San Jose and Winnipeg take the ice at 4PM with the Sharks' official website slated to broadcast a live stream of the game. Some storylines to keep an eye on:

* Mirco Mueller left last night's game after sustaining a nasty cross check by the end boards. He didn't return and there has yet to be any official word on whether he'll be playing this afternoon. Mueller, as you'll recall, is the Sharks' latest first round pick, the 18th overall selection in this year's draft.

* Rookie camp invitee Nikolas Brouillard led all Sharks defensemen against the Canucks with five shots on goal and appeared to have an effective game at both ends of the ice. Brouillard scored 57 points in 68 games with Drummondville of the QMJHL as an 18-year-old this past season and went undrafted largely due to concerns about his size. A couple more games like last night and he might just earn himself a NHL contract.

* With the possible exception of Calgary's Sven Baertschi, Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele is likely the best prospect at this tournament and a good bet to stick with the real Jets in the fall. Other prospects on the Jets roster to look out for include Jacob Trouba, a key part of Team USA's gold medal-winning squad at the 2013 World Junior Championships, and Nic Petan, who led the WHL in scoring this year as an 18-year-old but fell to the second round due to (you guessed it) size concerns.

We'll update this post with an embedded video of the stream as soon as it goes live. In the meantime, here's a look at the teams' lineup cards.

Edit: Here's the stream.
