And it only took half the regular season...
Snarkiness aside, it was so good to see the Sharks play at home the way they've been playing on the road all year. The first period was rather blasé on the part of both teams, but the second saw San Jose dominate the action and actually reap rewards from doing so as opposed to the previous game against Calgary when despite lengthy stretches of being in control they weren't able to convert scoring chances into actual goals. No one is going to mistake Patrick Rissmiller for Sidney Crosby, but he was in the right place at the right time for both of his goals. Can't ask for much more than that.
There was a letdown in the third period after the score was 3-0, but after the Blue Jackets had made it close the Sharks turned it back on and put the clamps on Columbus for the remainder of the game. Good to see, but all parties concerned would much prefer seeing all sixty minutes approached properly.
But hey, let's leave the nitpicking aside for a time. They won the game, and for the most part played the way they're capable of playing. Here's hoping the second half of the season sees Los Tiburones de San José approaching far more games in the manner this one was. Should they do so, very good things are going to happen.
