San Jose is 15-9-1 against Detroit since Todd McLellan took over bench boss duties in October of 2008. With two straight playoff series victories under his belt, and a 4-3 win over the Wings in Joe Louis Arena earlier this season, the Sharks will attempt to once again defeat what was once a Goliath-esque figure. The Wings have been extremely streaky as of late, losing six in a row before winning their next four games, but a 2-1 loss against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday has them chomping at the bit for tonight.
Both Jimmy Howard and Antti Niemi have been confirmed to start tonight, and Jason Demers is expected to replace Justin Braun on the Sharks bottom pairing. We covered the play of the two defenseman earlier in the week-- needless to say, Demers is looking for a strong game in the midst of his very disappointing start to his year.
