Sharks face Kings in a battle that's lost some shine

Complete Coverage >

According to Mark Emmons of Working The Corners, Michal Handzus will not play tonight due to illness. Coupled with Colin White's absence due to a family matter and you have a situation where the Sharks lineup will be relatively up in the air-- the possibility for seven defensemen is there, or Frazer McLaren could see his first game action of the 2011-2012 season after returning from a rehab stint in Worcester.

Antti Niemi will be in net for San Jose, with Jonathan Quick getting the tap for Los Angeles.

Some other assorted news and notes to tide you over before puck drop:

  • Kevin Kurz of CSN's Sharks Talk blog has a good mailbag session with readers, covering everything from Greiss vs. Niittymaki to who may be nervous about being traded.
  • David Pollak sits down with Dan Boyle to discuss his poor play as of late, and Meg from Battle of California raises the question of whether or not his downward trend could be due to age.
  • Mark Emmons of Working The Corners gets some quotes from the Sharks in response to the firing of Bruce Boudreau (WSH) and Paul Maurice (CAR) earlier today, as well as some thoughts on tonight's game.
  • Sharks 2010 draft pick Freddie Hamilton has been invited to Canada's WJC selection camp.

Puck drops at 7:37 PM.
