After trading up to select him with the 18th overall pick in this June's entry draft, the Sharks have signed defenseman Mirco Mueller to a standard entry-level contract.

After sustaining a back injury during the Young Stars tournament in British Columbia, Sharks defenseman and 18th overall pick in this June's draft Mirco Mueller wasn't able to be as active a participant in training camp and preseason as he likely would have preferred. On the bright side, the Sharks reported today that they've signed Mueller to a three-year, entry-level contract. Mueller scored 6 goals and 31 points in 63 games for the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League this past season while facing the toughest quality of competition among Silvertips blueliners and has been described by scouts as a "mobile, skilled guy that plays good in all three zones," a "top-end thinker with and without the puck" and a defenseman who "has good overall sense for the game and has shown the capability of taking on more challenges in his role."

Mueller was also re-assigned to Everett earlier today as the Sharks trimmed their training camp roster by eight, sending defenseman Sena Acolatse, goaltender Troy Grosenick and forwards Curt Gogol, Eriah Hayes, Brodie Reid, Rylan Schwartz and Daniil Tarasov to Worcester.
