Worcester suffers worst loss in franchise history

Playing the second game of their three-in-three weekend, the Worcester Sharks suffered their worst loss in franchise history as they were defeated 8-0 by the Binghamton Senators (AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators) Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Harri Sateri made 29 saves on 37 shots for the Sharks, who have been outscored 13-1 in their last two games and find themselves 10 points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 28 games left to play.

The Senators, who scored seven even strength goals, got two goals from enforcer Michael Sdao as well as goals from Stephane Da Costa, Jim O'Brien, Cole Schneider, Shane Prince, Mark Stone, and Matt Puempel.  In addition, Senators rookie goaltender Andrew Hammond made 29 saves for his first professional shutout.

NOTES... Final shots were 37-29 in favor of the Senators... The Sharks went 0-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill... Sateri is now 12-18-1 with a 3.24 goals-against-average and .884 save percentage... Sharks defenseman Adam Comrie, who skated as a forward, was the only Sharks player not to have a minus rating... Sharks defenseman Sena Acolatse was a team worse minus-four while forward Yanni Gourde and rookie defenseman Dylan DeMelo were minus-three... Sharks forward Daniil Tarasov returned to the lineup after missing nine games due to injury... This was the first meeting between the Sharks and Senators in Binghamton since the Sharks beat the Senators back on Dec. 11, 2011... Sharks forward James Livingston missed his first game of the season due to illness... Sharks rookie forward Rylan Schwartz is the only Sharks player to play in all 48 games... This was the second and final meeting between the Sharks and Senators this season... The Sharks went 0-2-0-0 against the Senators, are 11-12-3-0 on the road and 23-21-3-1 with 50 points overall... The Sharks wrap up their three-in-three weekend Sunday (Feb. 16) as they travel to play the Springfield Falcons at 3pm/et.
