2015-16 Sharks Season in Review: Matt Tennyson

We close our Season in Review series with another play who will not be a San Jose Shark next season. Matt Tennyson signed a two-way deal with the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this month. He played in 29 games and tallied four points for the Sharks and he closes his career with San Jose with 60 games played over three seasons.

Tennyson filled in for injured Sharks this season but found himself down the depth chart as Dylan DeMelo found a bit of success at the NHL level. Had he stuck around, he would have been the Sharks’ eighth or ninth defender.

He didn’t offer much in the way of scoring and his possession numbers were anything but spectacular, but perhaps Tennyson will find a fit with a team that isn’t quite as deep defensively.
