The Sharks scored three power-play goals, leading the team to a much needed home victory over Philadelphia as Logan Couture returned to the lineup.
There were no goals in the first period, but the Sharks dominated play, outshooting Philadelphia 9-3. The two teams traded penalties three times and were unable to convert until halfway through the second, when Joe Thornton put his seventh of the season past Steve Mason to put San Jose up 1-0:

The Flyers got their first of the game only a few minutes later when Claude Giroux put the tying goal past Martin Jones. The teams continued to trade penalties throughout the second, each taking two this time - fighting majors for Tommy Wingels and Chris VandeVelde and almost-offsetting penalties for Matt Nieto and Chris Schultz . At the end of two periods the Sharks led shots 20-13.
The Flyers went up 2-1 five minutes into the third on a breakaway goal from Sean Couturier after dominating possession early in the period.
The Sharks would go on the powerplay shortly afterward and Brent Burns took advantage, tying the game again. Logan Couture got his second assist of the night on the goal.

Tommy Wingels got into his second brawl of the game, this time against Jakub Voracek. Offsetting roughing penalties led to two minutes of four-on-four play that produced no results for either team.
In the very last second of a Sharks powerplay with six minutes remaining, Joe Pavelski put his team up with his 19th goal of the season.
