-The fourth line finally managed to create a scoring chance (and only two members of it played more than five and a half minutes at evens)

-The first and third lines did pretty well, while Couture's line had another below-average performance

-The first and third periods belonged to the Sharks, as they outchanced Calgary 17-11 overall in the game

-The Sharks' powerplay only generated one scoring chance for, while also allowing a chance against

-The Sharks once again ran into a team that managed to "save" 92% or more of their scoring chances

-Mikael Backlund is amazing, as he not only managed a +4 scoring chance differntial at evens (compared to his team's -7), he also had a hand in four of Calgary's nine even strength scoring chances

-Although his line didn't fare too well defensively, Marleau was fantastic in the neutral zone last night

-Tyler Kennedy also put up awesome numbers, carrying the puck in on all five of his successful zone entries

-The Sharks were absolutely attacking Gaudreau at the blue line last night, foiling four out of his six zone entry attempts

-David Jones put up very solid numbers for the Flames, as did Byron, who like Kenendy, carried the puck in on all of his zone entries

-Dillon finally put up another entry targeting performance worthy of his name

-The Sharks' right handed D regressed back to their usual selves in this game, allowing a lot of carry-ins after stifling Edmonton's zone entry attempts quite well last game

-A lot of it has to do with their performance against Gaudreau, but still, props to the Sharks for their entry targeting numbers, denying Calgary on 11.29% of their entry attempts

-As has seemed to be the trend when these two teams face, the Sharks took advantage of a relatively weak Calgary second D pairing, carrying the puck in 59% of the time they attempted entries against Wideman or Russell

-On the other side of the spectrum, Brodie and Giordano showed part of why they are so elite, only allowing San Jose four carry-ins on their eighteen entry attempts against that pairing

-Nieto had another really good game on zone exits

-Hertl was absolutely fantastic, carrying the puck out of the zone on five out of his seven touches, also managing to turn the puck over zero times on those touches

-Pavelski also did quite well, only turning the puck over once on his seven touches, and managing four successful breakouts on his remaining six

-The team as a whole had one of its better zone exit games, as they only turned the puck over on about a fifth of their touches, and they managed an exit success percentage of 53.73%

-Brodie had five successful breakouts for the Flames, as he was easily the Flame who handled the puck the most in their defensive zone

-The Flames' second pairing had a rough time on zone exits, only breaking the puck out successfully twice on twenty touches

-Although the Sharks stifled his zone entry attempts quite well, Gaudreau's skill came out on zone exits, as he performed four successful zone exits, and turned the puck over zero times on his eight touches
