  • Happy first day of the Stanley Cup Playoffs or, as it's known in San Jose this season, locker clean-out day. The team, along with management and the coaching staff, will convene at Sharks Ice one last time and it's expected a decision will be revealed on Todd McLellan's future, among other things. [Working the Corners]
  • For his part, McLellan was officially named head coach of Team Canada's entry at the 2015 IIHF World Championships in Prague. [TSN]
  • He'll be coaching Brent Burns, perhaps for the last time, as the Sharks defenseman was among the first group of players selected by Canada GM Jim Nill for the squad. [Hockey Canada]
  • Meanwhile, Sharks forward Ben Smith was named to Team USA's World Championship entry. [USA Hockey]
  • A lot of things went wrong with the Sharks this year and they're facing some significant questions as the offseason begins in earnest. [CSN Bay Area]
  • Among four-sport "cities," the Bay Area as a whole ranks near the bottom in winning percentage over the past 10 years. Don't blame the Sharks, though, whose .636 clip leads the pack. Of course, the Giants have won two championships. [Washington Post]
  • Finally, the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs get underway today with Habs-Senators, Islanders-Capitals, Predators-Blackhawks and Canucks-Flames. Check back at noon for a full playoff bandwagon guide but, in the meantime, here are some of the best previews on the internet of each of those four series.
