The Sharks begin their first road trip of the season in Columbus to take on what should be a pretty terrible Blue Jackets team. In addition to employing John Tortorella — no, wait, that’s the whole thing. The Jackets do have Seth Jones and a cannon, which is pretty cool.
As much as the team on the other side of the ice, the Sharks must battle fatigue and a long trip to Columbus. San Jose lost this road game 5-2 last year because that’s the kind of the loss the Sharks enjoy year in and year out.
It’s an incredibly, impossibly small sample size but here’s the skinny: The Sharks topped the Kings while the Blue Jackets got their butts kicked by the Boston Bruins, a team that is as concerned with self destruction as the Edmonton Oilers. San Jose really needs to beat this team or I’ll really try to forget it as quickly as possible.
Go Sharks. Don’t lose.
