VIDEO: Mikkel Boedker scores first goal as a Shark

He takes advantage of a broken play.

NHL: Los Angeles Kings at San Jose Sharks John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

Mikkel Boedker has his first goal as a member of the San Jose Sharks. Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky gave up a big rebound and Boedker pounced on it, throwing a shot to Bobo’s left shoulder. The Russian netminder made contact with the puck but couldn’t keep it out of the net, giving San Jose a 1-0 lead.

That goal came after a 4-minute power play for the Sharks that generated few shots and no scoring. The goal is Boedker’s first with San Jose and is, of course, the first goal the Sharks scored on the road this season.

Logan Couture and Brenden Dillon each picked up assists on Boedker’s goal.

San Jose currently leads the Blue Jackets 2-0 after the first period. Joel Ward buried a real nice pass from Brent Burns. Tierney got the puck around the boards to Burns, who threaded it across the goalmouth to Ward who tucked it home on the short side.
