It’s early in the season, but so far DeBoer’s lineup selections have worked. Each line and defensive pairing has posted positive even strength possession numbers when adjusting for score, zone, and venue, according to Corsica Hockey.
Dylan DeMelo, who’s yet to play a game for the Sharks this season, and Micheal Haley are the scratches, and Aaron Dell will back up Jones.
Meanwhile, a familiar face will start in goal for Detroit in the Sharks’ last trip to Joe Louis Arena. Jimmy Howard gets the nod in net on the second night of a back-to-back for the Red Wings, who beat the Nashville Predators, 5-3.
Other than Howard, any changes that head coach Jeff Blashill makes to the lineup will be determined after warmups, according to detroitredwings.com Editor Dana Wakiji. Forward Andreas Athanasiou could enter the lineup for the Wings, according to the Detroit Free Press’ Helene St. James.
If Detroit ices the same lineup as last night, it’ll look like this, courtesy of our friends at Winging it in Motown:
Tomas Tatar-Henrik Zetterberg-Riley Sheahan
Justin Abdelkader-Frans Nielsen-Dylan Larkin
Gustav Nyquist-Darren Helm-Tomas Vanek
Steve Ott-Luke Glendening-Drew Miller
