Melker Karlsson is day-to-day with a left ankle injury, according to the San Jose Mercury News’ Curtis Pashelka.

After x-rays on his ankle were negative, Karlsson did not participate in practice today, according to Pashelka. He was seen in a walking boot following the Sharks’ 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, according to CSN Bay Area’s Kevin Kurz.

The Sharks have options if Karlsson is to miss extended time. If today’s practice was any indication, it looks like one of Micheal Haley or Matt Nieto will draw into the lineup tomorrow in Carolina.

Haley and Nieto skated on the Sharks’ fourth line with Tommy Wingels this morning, according to Pashelka. Chris Tierney, who normally centers that line, centered the third line, as Logan Couture missed practice due to a maintenance day, Pashelka wrote.

Paul Martin also took a maintenance day, and Dylan DeMelo skated with Brent Burns. But, Martin, along with Couture, will be good to go tomorrow against Carolina, Sharks head coach Pete DeBoer said.
