Kevin Labanc scores first NHL goal

Sharks’ rookie Kevin Labanc has scored his first NHL goal tonight against the St. Louis Blues. The goal came in the second period on a delayed penalty and tied the score 2-2.

He sticks in the slot while the play develops near the St. Louis blue line and is then able to pick up a rebound and fire it past Jake Allen. Great to see his strong play early in this season rewarded with a goal. Here’s to many more goals in teal for Labanc.

The Sharks currently trail 3-2 after two periods. Jaden Schwartz has two goals for the Blues and Logan Couture scored his first 5v5 goal of the season. David Perron scored on the power play, snapping the Sharks’ streak of 26 penalties killed.

So far Labanc’s tally is the highlight of this one. San Jose has played quite well, but so-so goaltending from Martin Jones has them behind after two.
