Acquaintance of the Blog Curtis Pashelka broke what was at first surprising news. Both Kevin Labanc and Ryan Carpenter have been assigned to the San Jose Barracuda to the Sharks according to the AHL transactions page.
Per AHL transactions page, Ryan Carpenter and Kevin Labanc have both been reassigned by #SJSharks to @sjbarracuda .

Upon a moment of reflection, this move makes a lot of sense. The Sharks don’t play again until Wednesday, while the Barracuda play tonight and tomorrow in San Antonio. At the very least this is a paper move that gives the Sharks some minor cap relief and it’s possible the pair will fly out to Texas to take part in one or both of those contests.
The Barracuda return home on Thursday to take on Stockton. Given that Ryan Carpenter was a healthy scratch on Friday night, he might stay down with the ‘Cuda, while I expect Labanc will return to the Sharks by Wednesday’s game against the Senators.
Don’t read too much into this one, except for perhaps keeping an eye on the ‘Cuda game tonight. They play the Rampage at 5 p.m. PT.
