The NHL can’t help but honor the Sharks. The league named Brent Burns the third star of the week just a week ago and this week the NHL bestowed the same honor on Martin Jones for his outstanding goaltending.
In three games, Jones posted a .962 save percentage, posted a 1.01 goals against average and the Sharks won all three games. I know. How did he only get the third star of the week, right? Steve Mason picked up the first star by starting in four games and posting a .945 save percentage, which, whatever.
I don’t want to talk about it.
Jones continues to rise after a slow start to the season. He’s now 17th in save percentage with a sterling .924 and 14th in even strength save percentage (.927) amongst goalies with at least 500 minutes played. Things are going well for Jones, and for the Sharks as a result.
They get back in action against the Senators on Wednesday. You can bet on Jones being in net when they do.
