Sharks recall Kevin Labanc

An unsurprising move, but a good one.

Kevin Labanc is back with the San Jose Sharks. He was sent down to the Barracuda following the Sharks’ 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Labanc played in both of the Barracuda’s games against the San Antonio Rampage in Texas, where he recorded three assists and five shots on goal.

I expect Labanc will rejoin the Sharks lineup in tomorrow’s game against the Ottawa Senators. His recall doesn’t come as a surprise, but it’s nice to see the Sharks continue to put faith in their young players.

In 12 NHL games, Labanc has four points on two goals and two assists. He has 13 points in eight AHL games.

Ryan Carpenter, who was also sent down to the Barracuda with Labanc, has not been recalled. There was no immediate word on whether or not he would rejoin the Sharks on Wednesday, nor if another call up is imminent. I’m not naming names, but...
