Coyotes at Sharks Preview: Pacific Showdown

New, comments
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

After a historic night in Coyotes/Jets history, the Coyotes may be in for a bit of a hangover. Shane Doan, captain of the Arizona Coyotes broke a long standing points record owned by Dale Hawerchuk. He said last night after breaking the record: "We're in February and no one predicted we would be in the middle of a playoff race; we're not where we want to be, but we're not too far away from it. We just have to find ways to keep winning." It is an odd, odd season for the Coyotes, no one expected them to be in the position that they are in. Yet somehow they have kept it going.

The Sharks are seeing the Coyotes on the back end of a back-to-back. Louis Domingue started last night, so it is a distinct possibility that the Sharks see Anders Lindback in goal. Lindback has very shaky career numbers and should be a welcome sight for a Sharks team trying to rebound from their overtime loss against the Flames. While the Coyotes may not seem like an imposing foe, these divisional games are crucial in the Pacific division and could provide a huge cushion for the Sharks.

Storylines
  • After a four point game against the Flames, will Logan Couture continue his hot play as of late?
  • Will Martin Jones return in net provide the stability needed to pull off a win?
  • Can the Sharks take advantage of a team playing a back-to-back?
