With a win, the Sharks can move to within two points of the Los Angeles Kings for second, and four points of the Anaheim Ducks for first in the Pacific Division, depending on the outcome of the Kings and Ducks' games tonight.
Tale of the Tape
|3rd in Pacific||Rank||7th in Pacific|
Logan Couture led the way with four points as the Sharks overcame a 4-1 first period deficit and stormed back to take a 5-4 lead. But, Kris Russell tied the game in the third period as the Flames hung on to win in a shootout.
- The Flames are reeling. They won their last game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, but had lost seven consecutive games before that. Despite Calgary's regression that just about everyone saw coming, the Sharks are just 2-1-1 against the Flames this season.
- 2016 has been kind to Joe Thornton. Since the start of the year, Thornton has points in all but four games. He's surpassed Pavelski for the team lead in points, and now sits at eighth in the league in points (62), and is just three points back of Evgeny Kuznetsov for fifth (65).
- Patrick Marleau will add another milestone to his collection tonight.
