With the 2016 draft just over a week away, we’re going to highlight a few players the Sharks could be targeting for their first pick late in the second round. San Jose has the 60th pick in the draft. The first round will be held on June 24 in Buffalo with the remainder of the draft scheduled for June 25.
Other draft profiles:
Name: Adam Mascherin
Position: Center/Left Wing
Born: June 6, 1998
Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Height: 5'9
Weight: 192 lbs
Shoots: Left
TSN Pick Projection: 57th
Assets
Adam Mascherin has played two seasons for the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers. His stats took a huge jump from his first season (12 G 17 A) to his second (35 G 46 A) with only three more games played. Those stats tell a lot of the story - Mascherin can put the puck in the net. He’s also been scouted as having a great shot and work ethic to go along with it.
Flaws
Mascherin’s most glaring flaw is his size. At 5’9 and 192 pounds, he’ll need to work on his speed to make it in the NHL.
Career Potential
Top six forward (via The Hockey Writers, who also make a Phil Kessel comp. Mark me down as hoping for this guy).
