Sharks Throw Out First Pitch at Athletics Game

But did they throw strikes?

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Oakland Athletics Kenny Karst-USA TODAY Sports

The Sharks season may have ended last Sunday and while some players have left the Bay Area for their off season homes, a handful of Sharks remain in San Jose.

This afternoon the Oakland Athletics invited five Sharks to throw out the first pitch(es) before their game against the Los Angeles Angels. Clad in A’s white jerseys sporting their names and numbers, Logan Couture, Martin Jones, Justin Braun, Brenden Dillon, and Barclay Goodrow stood in between the lines and threw out the first pitch.

While Couture and Goodrow looked on, Jones, Braun, and Dillon threw out the first pitches to A’s pitchers John Axford and Sean Doolittle. (No clue who the third Athletic is...maybe Jake Smolinski?). Let’s see how they did.

Justin Braun - who shoots right-handed but apparently throws left-handed - delivers a strike while Dillon and Jones short-hop their targets. Oh well. These are hockey players we’re talking about.

The Angels would go on to beat the Athletics 7-1 in Tim Lincecum’s 2016 season debut for the Halos.
