With the 2016 draft just over a week away, we’re going to highlight a few players the Sharks could be targeting for their first pick late in the second round. San Jose has the 60th pick in the draft. The first round will be held on June 24 in Buffalo with the remainder of the draft scheduled for June 25.
Other draft profiles:
Name: Kale Clague
Position: Defense
Born: June 5, 1998
Birthplace: Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
Height: 6’0
Weight: 183 lbs
Shoots: Left
TSN Pick Projection: 55th
Assets
After having his rookie season for the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings cut short by injury, Kale Clague did not disappoint in his first full CHL season. The defenseman had 43 points in 71 games played this year, and 37 of those points were assists. Clague is a good skater and he has a solid passing game.
Flaws
Like many draft eligible players, Clague will need to bulk up before cracking an NHL roster. But at 6’0, he has the size that is needed for defenseman in the league. The offensive side of the game is not Clague’s strong suit.
Career Potential
2nd pairing defenseman (via The Hockey Writers)
