With the 2016 draft just over a week away, we’re going to highlight a few players the Sharks could be targeting for their first pick late in the second round. San Jose has the 60th pick in the draft. The first round will be held on June 24 in Buffalo with the remainder of the draft scheduled for June 25.
Other draft profiles:
Name: Sean Day
Position: Defense
Born: January 9, 1998
Birthplace: Leuven, Belgium
Height: 6’2
Weight: 224 lbs
Shoots: Left
Assets
Sean Day has what a lot of players we’ve profiled doesn’t: height AND weight. That is, of course, far from the most important thing, but it’s one less problem for Day (and whoever drafts him) to worry about. He scored 22 points in 57 games for the Mississauga Steelheads this season, which is down from 36 points in 61 games the previous season.
Flaws
Day was granted exceptional status in the OHL and as a result was drafted one year early, and has played three seasons for the Mississauga Steelheads. He will be the first player granted exceptional status to not be drafted first overall (the others? John Tavares, Aaron Ekblad, and Connor McDavid). His lack of success after being so highly touted has raised questions about his motivation.
Career Potential
