2016 NHL Draft: Sharks select Joachim Blichfeld with final pick

Malmo Redhawks

With their final pick of the 2016 NHL Draft, the San Jose Sharks selected Joachim Blichfeld. The winger out of Denmark scored 25 points in 48 games with the Malmo Redhawks J20 squad. It’s likely Blichfeld will stick with the Redhawks for next season as well.

Blichfeld was ranked No. 154 overall by hockeyprospects.com and is the first, and only, winger selected by the Sharks in the draft.

Here are some of Blichfeld’s vitals:

Position: forward

Nationality: Denmark

Birth date: 17.07.1998 (17 years)

Birth place: Frederikshavn, Denmark

Height: 181 cm / 5' 11"

Weight: 68 kg / 150 lbs

Shoots: right

This is San Jose's final pick of the draft. Doug Wilson previously selected Dylan Grambell in the second round, Noah Gregor in the fourth round, Manuel Wiederer in the fifth round and Matt Shoemaker in the sixth round.

What do you think of the Sharks final haul? It seems Gregor is the best selection of the draft, with the rest floating between “could be something” and “meh.”
