You already know and love the No. 2 entry on our 25 under 25 list, but let’s talk about him anyway. Joonas Donskoi burst onto the scene with the Sharks a season ago, providing exciting play, great hands and even some magnificent shootout skill.
Donskoi primarily played with Tommy Wingels and Logan Couture (when they were all healthy, anyway) and found himself on the ice with a variety of teammates when Couture was injured. He spent time with Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton in addition to Patrick Marleau and Joel Ward.
When the Sharks signed Donskoi it seemed like a great, low-risk, high-reward deal and...so far so good. In his first season with the Sharks he scored 11 goals and 36 points in 76 contests. He’s also a very solid possession player, giving the Sharks another key piece to build around.
Oh, and he’s also the answer to a great trivia question as he scored the first-ever Stanley Cup Final game-winning goal in Sharks history. What’s not to like?
