I mean, obviously.

Joe Pavelski gets to add captain of Team USA to his resume. The San Jose Sharks captain will be made the captain of the Americans in the upcoming World Cup of Hockey according to this report from Friend of the Blog Kevin Kurz.

The move doesn’t come as a big surprise given the ever improving value of Pavelski’s stock around the NHL. Besides, we’ve already got the t-shirts made and everything, so it would seem like a waste to not cash in now, right?

It’s been a pretty good year for Pavelski as he put together a dominant postseason and just missed out on being made the cover athlete for NHL 17. Now he’ll pick up a well-deserved honor while representing his country.

Team USA opens its tournament against Team Europe on Sept. 17. I was already interested in the tournament solely to see the Sharks in action early, and now I’m doubly so. How about you? Does this make you want to pick up a Joe Pavelski Team USA jersey?
