EA releases NHL 17 on Sept. 13, just a short 24 days from the writing of this post, and in the lead up to its release the studio has put out the top 10 rated defenders in the game. A couple of Sharks, Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Norris Trophy nominee Brent Burns, find themselves in the top 10.

I’m not sure if I’m more surprised that Drew Doughty finished first (lol), Shea Weber finished second (LOL) or Duncan freaking Keith and Ryan goddamn Suter both landed in the top five. My beef with this (mostly) terrible list aside, it’s nice to see Burns and Vlasic make this list.

Burns is ranked sixth with a 92 mark and Vlasic finished eighth with a 91. That’s good news for anyone hoping to play as the Sharks in the upcoming game, though you should be warned that (at least in the beta) Martin Jones was still painfully underrated. Buyer beware.

Will you be picking up a copy of the game when it drops in mid-September?
