The San Jose Sharks released their alternate jersey schedule last week and I was surprised to see the popular Heritage Jersey was nowhere to be found. Instead, the Sharks will stick with their “Black Armor” concept, possibly because they see new jerseys on the horizon before next season.
That certainly explains why the Sharks didn’t unveil a brand new jersey this season, but it doesn’t explain why they opted to bail on the Heritage Jersey. I suppose if you subscribe to the idea that jerseys can be lucky, or that what the team wears has any affect on the result of a game, you might be happy about this.
As for me, I’m disappointed the Sharks are sticking with the dull black jerseys while rejecting the absolutely beautiful Heritage Jerseys. Not only do the throwbacks look great, it makes perfect sense as an alternate for a franchise that is finally old enough to, you know, have throwbacks.
