We’ve got real hockey today, everyone! The United States and Canada both open their World Cup of Hockey slates against Team Europe and the Czech Republic, respectively. The Americans open the tournament at 12:30 p.m. PT on ESPN2, while the Canadians take on the Czechs at 5 p.m. on ESPNews.
If the pre-tournament scrimmages are any indication, Team Europe is going to struggle in this tournament. That’s good news for Team USA, who despite beating Canada once did not look particularly convincing in either contest.
Meanwhile the Canadians are every bit as good as we thought they were and should steamroll a Czech team that doesn’t have Tomas Hertl. That’s the only reason the Czechs won’t win, obviously. Sorry Tomas, get well soon.
You can see the full schedule below. Remember that all ESPN #content can be seen on the WatchESPN app ... as long as you have a cable subscription that includes ESPN, obviously. Happy World Cup of Hockey!
