If Tomas Hertl didn’t have bad luck, he’d have none. The forward will miss the World Cup of Hockey, missing a major tournament with injury for the second time in his career.
The NHL.com article says it is the same lower body injury taht caused Hertl to miss games in the Stanley Cup Final. While the injury did not require surgery, we still don’t know the nature or full extent of it.
Hertl has not fully recovered from the lower-body injury that kept him out of the final four games of the Stanley Cup Final, and Gudas sustained a wrist injury during training for the World Cup.
Hertl is the second top-six forward for Team Czech Republic to miss the tournament. Center David Krejci was removed from the roster Friday to continue his recovery from surgery on his left hip April 25.
The Czechs roster was already thin and it will be tough for them to have much of an impact in the inaugural World Cup.
