With Fear the Fin Night a mere week away (or not, depending on when you’re reading this post) I thought now would be a good time to introduce ourselves to one another. I’ll start by telling my story of how I first got into the San Jose Sharks and how I ended up in charge of this sinking ship.
My first Sharks game back in the early 2000s against the Dallas Stars. We had family friends from the Dallas area who always got tickets when the Stars came to town. My buddy’s dad’s boss had season tickets and gave them to him, which was a pretty slick deal for all of us. Sort of.
San Jose lost every single game against Dallas I saw as a kid. In fact, I never saw the Sharks win live while I lived in Los Gatos. I moved to the Los Angeles area in 2004 and didn’t see my first Sharks win in person until 2013 when they beat the Nashville Predators at SAP Center. That involved many losses against the Ducks and Kings in hostile territory.
I really got into the Sharks during the 2009-10 season when I could afford NHL Gamecenter for the first time. That was my first year of college and I’ve been officially aboard the bandwagon ever since. I started writing at Fear the Fin during the 2013-14 season and took over the reigns myself last year, which worked out almost perfectly.
So what’s your story? I’m ready.
