Sabres at Sharks: Lines, gamethread, and where to watch

New, comments

There's no such thing as curses.

Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Both the San Jose Sharks and the Buffalo Sabres will be looking for their first win of the season tonight when the Sabres visit SAP Center.

The Sharks' defense is going to be looking very different, with Paul Martin on injured reserve. Joakim Ryan will be making his NHL debut and Tim Heed will be playing his second-ever NHL game. The forwards are looking different too, giving Ryan Carpenter his first game of the season centering the fourth line. Healthy scratches for tonight will be Dylan DeMelo, Joel Ward, and Barclay Goodrow.

Evander Kane is carrying the Sabres right now, with the most points (6) and goals (4) on the team. That should make out-shooting them easy enough, something that is plaguing this Sabres group in their losses. However, the defense is still going to need to tighten up, as the Sharks have been outing their opponents and haven't won a game.

Tonight will also see former Shark, Matt Tennyson, return to San Jose.
