Sharks at Devils: Lines, gamethread, and where to watch

The Sharks are looking to start this road trip right with a win in New Jersey.

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

The New Jersey Devils are having themselves a season so far. Led by rookie Nico Hischier and former first-overall Taylor Hall, the Devils have won six of their first seven games for the first time since the 2002-03 season. They might face some difficulties maintaining that success tonight - goaltender Cory Schneider was placed on IR this morning after sustaining a lower body injury in last night's game against the Ottawa Senators. They've also been struggling on the penalty kill, something the recently revamped Sharks power play could take advantage of tonight.

The Sharks are shuffling their wingers. Melker Karlsson will be on the second line, while Mikkel Boedker gets bumped to the third line, leaving Joonas Donskoi and Jannik Hansen to round out Ryan Carpenter's fourth line. Barclay Goodrow, Joel Ward, and Dylan DeMelo are healthy scratches, leaving the new d-pairings in tact. Paul Martin did not accompany the team on this road trip.

Coming back to New Jersey, this is likely a game Pete DeBoer wants to win, given that he was the last coach to bring the Devils into the post-season. This will also be the first game defenseman Mirco Mueller will play against his former team. Timo Meier will face off against his former Team Switzerland teammate, Hischier.

Fun note: Native New Yorker, Kevin Labanc, will have his family in attendance tonight and for a good portion of this road trip. Make 'em proud, kid.
